      Hi,
      I have some questions and suggestions regarding the future of mages on the shard. I’d like some clarification whether the current state is by deliberate design (and thus, if you are willing to rethink them) or by tradition (and thus, if you are willing to change them).

      Regarding spellcasting:

      Generally, the higher the circle of the spell, the longer the cast time (i.e. delay between cast spell and until the target reticle appears). This is apparent, particularly for higher tier spells in the regular spellbook (e.g. resurrection, mass dispel) and from the earth- and necrobook.
      For instance, casting Ice Strike takes about 2½-3 seconds per cast, which is substantial, especially considering the marginal damage it does: the damage of Ice Strike is rougly comparable to a shot from a power/vanq bow, which requires 1 arrow per shot and shoots several times per second. Ice Strike also doesn’t work on (by far) all monsters. Add to this the need to meditate; the inability to move when casting; the fact that you get interrupted if you take damage; etc., and you should end up with the verdict that solo-hunting as a mage is a pretty distressing task. At least, this is the conclusion I’ve reached.
      I’m not suggesting that everything should be killable by Ice Strike alone, but the general argument applies to spells in general. (Also, on a related note: pretty much everything is killable with a power bow).

      Also, non-spec casters (e.g. rangers) have the same cast time as spec-mages. I’m sure this is intended, but perhaps you could consider decreasing the cast-time for spec mages (reflecting their (alleged) superiority with magic), which would make spellcasting more competitive (e.g. not one ice strike every 3 seconds, but perhaps one every second for a spec4 mage).

      Second,
      Some previous shards have added commands to cast earthspells, such as “.icestrike” or “.wyvernstrike”. This would facilitate casting by binding the cast to a hotkey. Is this something you have considered, or could introduce?

      Third,
      I’ve seen that at least Fallen Angels (and some other mobs) utilize Holy magic (e.g. summon wisp; astral storm; divine fury) which implies that Holy magic is implemented. Will, or could, you also add the Holy book to the loot tables?

      Fourth,
      Someone has already mentioned rituals. Are there any intentions to add these to the game, including the robe/staff/ritualbook? I understand that they will be of minor importance; I think most (at least I) would just like to do them, not create game-breaking items. If there’s anything I can do to help speed this along I’m happy to help.

        Oh, and another thing:

        Is Earth portal active on the shard?
        Is Liche active? (I know it was prior to a recent patch, because of a bugged necroscroll, but i haven’t found Liche in loot).

            Thanks for your suggestion. We will take a look into mages as I also feel that hunting with a mage is more difficult than other classes. How we plan on fixing this will have to be discussed. As for the points you mentioned:

            Point 1: This might unbalance PvP (i.e. fast casting mind blast) but we will see if we can solve it some other way.

            Point 2: Good idea, I will add it to the list.

            Point 3: Yes, we could try adding it. Will need to be tested allot though. (added it to the list)

            Point 4: Rituals are on the list but have a low-priority.

            Point 5: Yes, it’s added and should work.

              On a related note: can you enable copying of full spellbooks again? It’s disabled at the moment.

                  I will add it to the list. It was disabled earlier to allow players to make some money selling individual scrolls. At this point in the game it will make more sense in allowing it again.
